Twenty years of building for independent artists
Loud Feed didn’t start as a podcast network. It started as infrastructure for musicians who were being asked to give away more than they got back — and that has shaped everything we’ve built since.
2006
Helping independent labels and artists make podcasts
We began working with independent music labels and artists to turn their catalogs, their credits and their stories into podcasts — at a point when most of the industry still wasn’t sure what a podcast was for.
The first thing we wrote was a content management system, in Ruby on Rails, for every digital asset attached to a song: cover art, liner notes, who owned the digital rights, who owned the recording rights, and who performed on the track. Then we wrote that data back into the MP3 itself. The bet was that a piece of work should carry its own rights record, and the person who made it should own that record.
2009
Built the website for the American Association of Independent Music
A2IM is the nonprofit trade organization representing America’s independently owned record labels — today a community of more than 600 of them, advocating for independent music in the marketplace, the media and in policy. We built their website, and spent years close to the people fighting for independent artists to keep a fair share of their own work.

The same argument, a bigger medium. Independent shows deserve the same thing independent labels did: ownership of the work, ownership of the audience relationship, and a share of what it earns that nobody can change without a vote.

One network. One entry. Every channel you choose.
A host on the Loud Feed Network composes an episode once — audio, video, text, artwork, credits and rights — and we deliver it to the channels they’ve selected. And we tell you honestly which channels actually permit that, and which ones we hand you a clean export for instead.
Your feed is the original
RSS and email first — the two channels nobody can revoke. Everything on a platform is a copy of something you hold.
Credits travel with the work
Structured credits, licence and a permanent show identity written into every episode — so your work carries its own record, wherever it ends up.
You’re not doing this alone
Shared production, distribution, legal and administrative capacity — including standing help when a takedown notice lands.

WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT
We’re building it as a cooperative
Loud Feed is being formed as a for-profit platform cooperative — owned by the hosts, producers and workers who make the shows. That isn’t an ideology. It’s the only structure we know of where the terms can’t quietly change on you.
We’ve published a working paper setting out the whole plan — the structure, the revenue math, and six honest reasons it could fail. It’s a work in progress, and we’d rather be argued with early.
