Open Archives Standards Implementation Project
Done using Java Open Source Tools
- a spinoff from the University of Michigan and Princeton, provides millions of students at thousands of Universities with access to virtually every academic journal on the planet with issues going back to the 1800’s.
MediaRica worked with JSTOR to revise their core Java architecture to implement standards from the Open Archives Initiative. While focused on access to e-print archives the fundamental technological framework of the standard is independent of both the type of content offered and promises to have much broader relevance in opening up access to a range of digital materials. In addition, MediaRica helped train JSTOR staff in object oriented programming and development methodology including Design Patterns.
Digital Library Authentication and Authorization Tools
Done using Java Open Source Tools
ProQuest – originated in Ann Arbor and was built on the aquisition of University Microfilm International (microfilm was invented in Ann Arbor). MediaRica led a team of four developers and worked with ProQuest staff to create the next generation of existing functionality while employing Design Patterns and standards based object technology approaches to the architecture.
LAD (Local Administrator) is an administration tool for the ProQuest product.
